Whataburger employee, Marcus Walker, is known for his upbeat attitude, work ethic and especially caring for customers.

"You need anything? Ketchup? Anything like that?" Walker asked a customer.

But even outside of work, he still offers a helping hand, something that's clear after last Saturday.

"I just got off of work at 3 am, and I was walking home," Walker said.

On I-27, is where Walker says he saw a woman standing in the middle of the highway.

"I walked up to the highway to see what they were doing, and I saw a semi coming a little ways away, and I didn't want them to get hit by a semi," Walker said.

So Walker acted, pulling the woman from danger.

"They told me that they were planning on killing themselves, they told me to move, and I didn't let that happen because I don't want to see anybody die," Walker said. "I held her for a minute, she was fighting. But, I didn't care about the fight."

Walker says in that moment, he saw himself in the woman.

"I was right in her same position three months ago," Walker said. "I lost my kid, I lost everything."

In a better place now, Walker says this is his way of paying it forward.

Just today, Walker's own family is finding out about his heroic moment.

"I just learned.you just told me I'm saying, what?," Walker's grandmother, Melba Roark said.

Yes, Roark is shocked.

"I'm going to kick his behind for jumping out in front of a semi," Roark said.

However, she's far from surprised her grandson risked his life.

"If he had to go hundreds of miles to get there, if I told him I needed him right now, he would be there," Roark said.

Staying humble and caring, Walker hopes he made an impact.

"I hope that she can pass on or move on, and help somebody else who needs the help, or comes to Whataburger and joins our family," Walker said.
