ORRINGTON, Maine (WGME) - A 10-year-old boy from Orrington, who had been reported missing Sunday, was found after he hit a police cruiser with a stolen vehicle, according to the Penobscot County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies say the boy was reported missing around 7:45 p.m. from Snows Center Road in Orrington.

During the investigation, deputies say they were told the boy may be driving a vehicle on Johnson Mill Road in Orrington.

A Holden police officer assisting in the search found the vehicle. The boy initially pulled over, according to deputies.

Deputies say when the officer confirmed it was the boy driving, he tried to box the vehicle in, but the boy started to drive off and struck the side of the Holden police cruiser.

The officer was able to detain the boy and remove him from the vehicle, which was later reported to be stolen from Brewer, according to deputies.

The officer and the boy were not hurt. Both vehicles sustained minor damage.

The boy was taken to a hospital to be evaluated.
