CINCINNATI (WKRC) - The Cincinnati Zoo says there's encouraging news when it comes to Fiona, its premature baby hippo.

Fiona, who was born six weeks premature, has had her ups and downs. Friday, caregivers said she had low energy and a weak suckling response. On Saturday, the zoo said she was in stable condition and one of her caregivers was trying to teach her how to normalize her breathing.

But Sunday, zoo officials said Fiona was active during the night and she was able to consume a good amount of formula on her own. Fiona's caregivers also captured her first steps on camera during their overnight shift.

The zoo also asks everyone to keep sending their positive thoughts for Fiona!
