TV host Wendy Williams shocked fans by fainting during her show's Halloween special on Tuesday.

Williams, 53, fainted while speaking on stage while dressed in a Statue of Liberty costume.

Midway through her speech to camera, the star began to wobble and then collapsed to the floor.

Producers on "The Wendy Williams Show" cut to black, a lengthy commercial break and images of the audience clapping.

Several minutes later, Williams returned to screens to reassure viewers she was fine but had passed out as her costume was too hot.

"That was not a stunt," she said. "I overheated in my costume and I passed out. I am a champ, and I am back."

However, the star still looked slightly unsteady on her feet as she leaned against a podium while announcing the winners of her show's Halloween costume contest.
