ABC TV bosses are considering bringing the "Roseanne" cast back for a new comedy starring Sara Gilbert.

Sources close to the axed show tell TMZ executives are exploring the possibility of re-branding the sitcom and focusing on Gilbert's character Darlene.

Ironically, Gilbert was the driving force behind the "Roseanne" revival after teaming up with her TV dad John Goodman for a skit on her daytime show "The Talk."

Gilbert, who was a producer on the sitcom, rang around the cast and helped TV bosses quickly get the sitcom back on air for a phenomenal comeback earlier this year.

She was also one of the first people to attack her TV mom Roseanne Barr after she posted a racially-insensitive tweet on Tuesday, effectively killing the show.

Sources tell TMZ Goodman is "very interested" in the spin-off idea, which is being led by "Roseanne" producer Tom Werner, through his company Carsey-Werner, in an effort to salvage the jobs of those who will be affected by ABC's decision to scrap the show.

Gilbert and Werner have yet to comment.
