Last Call: Titles leaving Netflix in June 2018
(KUTV) June is soon upon us and while that means summer vacations and family reunions, it also means that we'll be waving goodbye to a grocery list of titles on Netflix. Here are a few you might want to catch before they fade into the summer sunset.
Men in Black
Let's go back to a more simple time known as 1997 whenTommy Lee Jones and Will Smith starred in a little film called "Men in Black" as a pair of agents working for an extra terrestrial surveillance corporation. Sure, the sequel went awry, but the original was a quintessential popcorn film that was both funny and exciting.
My Left Foot
There was a time whenDaniel Day-Lewis was a relatively unknown actor. The "My Left Foot" came along and made him an Academy Award winning actor. "My Left Foot" tells the story of Christy Brown, a man with cerebral palsy, who learned to write and paint despite only being able to control his left foot. Essential viewing for art house fans.
The Young Victoria
Released in 2009, "The Young Victoria" stars Emily Blunt asPrincess Victoria of Kent (soon to be Queen) and explores her relationship withPrince Albert of Saxe-Coburg-Gotha, played byRupert Friend. I had enjoyed Blunt's performance in 2008's "Sunshine Cleaning" with Amy Adams, but it wasn't until I saw this film that I knew that I'd be a fan of her work for years to come.
Training Day
Denzel Washington took home an Oscar for his performance in this gritty police drama from directorAntoine Fuqua and writerDavid Ayer. Co-starringEthan Hawke, the film follows a rookie cop as he learns the ropes from a veteran narcotics agent.
While You Were Sleeping
Sandra Bullock stars as a lonelyChicago Transit Authority token collector who saves a man's life and is suddenly mistaken as the man's fiancée by his family.
Marvel Studios' Captain America: Civil War
You've got a little time for this one, it leaves Netflix on June 25, 2018, but, considering how directly it ties into "Avengers: Infinity War," you'll probably want to revisit the film before it disappears. "Captain America: Civil War" is easily one of the better Marvel Cinematic Universe films. It feels like the film "The Avengers: Age of Ultron" should have been.
