Elton John doesn't know what some of his songs are about either

(WENN) — Sir Elton John still doesn't know what he's singing about on some classic songs he's written with longtime partner Bernie Taupin.
The rock veteran admits he has been singing tunes like "Take Me to the Pilot" for 40 years - and still doesn't know the meaning behind Taupin's lyrics.
"The great advantage to that is you keep singing it because you think, 'Well, maybe it'll hit home what it's about,' but so far, in about 48 years, I haven't found that," he revealed during a recent appearance on pal Sharon Osbourne's TV talk show "The Talk," explaining he has even asked Taupin what his lyrics mean.
"He doesn't know either," John said.
